The Marie Eugenie School for Innovative Learning is a progressive concept in tertiary education, conceptualized for the purpose of harnessing the qualities that create highly skilled educators, communicators, psychologists, interior designers and practitioners in the performing arts as trailblazing leaders. Encouraging a highly creative atmosphere, the school fuses theory with application, challenges the development of innovative strategies, and integrates interrelated fields of study and disciplines to develop responsible citizens for the country and the world.

General Objectives

The school is committed to provide quality education offered in a faith-context that enables students:

    1. To be capable of analytical, creative, and critical thinking and at the same time, conscious of their dignity as human persons and respectful of others;
    2. To be professionally trained with ethical values in various areas of specialization and with a strong sense of service to individuals and society;

TEACHER EDUCATION

The Program is designed to form young women into excellent educators for social transformation. It responds to the worldwide need for competent teachers who will form the youth of the next generations. The teacher education program also recognizes the value of leadership in a field where a single person has the ability to directly and profoundly influence the immediate future and initiate a multiplier effect that would contribute to nation building. The Education Program provides professional training to build teaching careers in the Pre-School, Elementary and Secondary levels. The curriculum prepares the students to pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers.

Bachelor of Elementary Education
The goal of this program is to provide the students with theory/concept courses and methods and strategies in teaching the elementary level. The program offers a comprehensive study of the professional courses, specialization and general education courses. It aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for elementary education. Graduates see themselves in the field of pre-school and elementary education in the Philippines and abroad.

Bachelor of Early Childhood Education
The course is designed to equip students with a solid foundation on early childhood education theories, principles of early childhood care, as well as the current trends and developments in teaching strategies, curriculum design and educational technology. The course aims to educate individuals to be competent early childhood practitioners working with children from 0-8 years old in various early childhood settings. It provides opportunities for hands-on teaching experiences in both private and public pre-schools as well as practicum experiences in Assumption schools. This program is for students who intend to teach in pre-schools and elementary levels and those who see themselves as future administrators or even owners and managers of pre-schools.

Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English
The program focuses on the theories and principles of teaching, particularly in the secondary level. It develops skill in effective and creative writing and communicating, literary criticism and analysis, research and appreciation for literature. It exposes the students to a study on Philippine and cross-cultural literature as well as literary genres and literary techniques. This program is for those who intend to teach in the high school levels or those who see themselves in related fields of communication, such as journalism, broadcast communication, print production etc.

COMMUNICATION

The Department of Communication develops practitioners and markets who are creative, relevant and ethical in their practice and judgment. Inspired with the values embodied by St. Marie Eugenie, the Assumption communication graduate is trained to be competent in traditional and emerging media platforms with the ability to embrace the dynamic character of the discipline. Realizing that the essence of such education is to transform lives and improve society, the course underscores social relevance and global perspectives. The program offers 2 tracks in Communication namely Advertising and Public Relations, and Media Production. Emphasis of the programs is the development of the different abilities, competencies, talents and interests of the students. Being an exclusive women school, the learning experience in Assumption College allows students to grow in a unique milieu that fosters spontaneity, confidence and independence.

Bachelor of Arts in Communication Major in Advertising and Public Relations
Advertising & Public Relations is a program that focuses on the craft of shaping perception by developing efficient marketing strategies and executing a message, idea or point of view in the form of photography, illustration, digital development and more. Here, students learn how to communicate with potential clients and explore techniques for reaching a target audience.

Bachelor of Arts in Communication Major in Media Production
The Media Production program is ideal for those who want to be part of the TV and film industry. Students are trained in video and film production, broadcast journalism, program conceptualization and more. This course provides hands-on training, preparing students to create content for convergent media audiences.

PERFORMING ARTS

Bachelor of Performing Arts – Theater Track
The Bachelor of Performing Arts program forms graduates who are highly disciplined and skilled in the history, theory, technique, critique, production and performance of theater, music and dance. The program keeps its competitive edge via a strong synergy with the Marie Eugenie Theater of the Assumption (METTA). This gives our graduates the opportunity to develop in a program with greater latitude for innovation and creativity. The Assumption Performing Arts graduate is trained to be a competent Theater artist who recognizes her power to develop innovations in the practice and be a change agent and leader in the industry and in society.

PSYCHOLOGY
The Psychology Department develops women leaders who are highly competent, caring and socially responsible practitioners and licensed psychometricians to work in HR, social service agencies, the academe, and research. Inspired by the values embodied by St. Marie Eugenie, the program provides a holistic education forming women who can make significant contributions to society. Courses are ability-based and grounded in core values that form women who integrate learning with character. The program offers 2 tracks: AB and BS Psychology. Both tracks have similar objectives, with the BS having additional preparation in the natural sciences geared towards a career in medicine. Graduates of either program can proceed on to specializations in Psychology such as: clinical, counseling, developmental, educational, social, and industrial/organizational. They can also pursue further studies in law, management, and public governance.

Bachelor of Arts in Psychology - AB Psychology
AB Psychology program equips graduates with the theoretical and practical skills for careers in HR, education, research, and allied fields. The program emphasizes a strong liberal arts background and allows students to choose electives in the humanities, management, and sciences.

Bachelor of Science in Psychology - BS Psychology
BS Psychology program functions as a training ground for students who want to combine their interests in human behavior and natural sciences. The BS Psychology program also serves as a pre-Medicine course.

• Both AB and BS Psychology Programs prepare the students for further specialization in the different fields of psychology such as developmental psychology, industrial organizational psychology, counseling & therapy, and social psychology.

INTERIOR DESIGN

Bachelor of Science in Interior Design
Bachelor of Science in Interior Design is a program in the applied visual arts that prepares individuals to apply artistic principles and techniques to the professional planning, designing, equipping, and furnishing of residential, commercial, corporate, hospitality, theater, exhibition and institutional interior spaces. The course includes instruction in computer applications, drafting, and graphic techniques; principles of interior lighting, acoustics, systems integration, and color coordination; furniture and furnishings; textiles and their finishing; the history of interior design and period styles; basic structural design; building codes and inspection regulations; and applications to office, hotel, factory, restaurant and housing design. The program also aims to emanate the fundamental principles of Assumption education in their professional practice.

Milleret School of Business & Management for Women (MSBMW)

The Milleret School of Business and Management for Women develops effective, innovative and socially responsible women leaders, entrepreneurs and managers who transform organizations and make a positive difference in society. The school offers dynamic interdisciplinary educational programs that combine a strong business and management education core with professional courses, general education, leadership and entrepreneurship to develop well-balanced and competent business professionals. Programs are designed to empower students with the knowledge, skills and values needed to succeed in a dynamic, complex and challenging business environment that is increasingly global and interconnected. Courses are outcome-focused and, in many cases, project-driven with a learning environment that challenges students’ thinking, is collaborative, encourages diverse perspectives, and prepares students for real-world situations through extensive practice and practical experience.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

The Business Administration Program utilizes an integrated and flexible approach to study the interrelationships among the different functional areas of business and examines how the effective orchestration of these different components of business operations can lead to organizational success. It is an interdisciplinary and problem-focused program comprising core business and management education courses, business administration core courses, major courses and electives that facilitates insight and enables effective decision-making.

A distinctive feature of the program is that it aims to develop a well-rounded business professional through the provision of a balanced set of courses in several functional areas of management, leadership and entrepreneurship. Each major consists of courses designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed by graduates to successfully serve as leaders and managers in business organizations within their chosen field. The program also addresses organizational issues such as global competition, continuous quality improvement, good governance and sustainable development which are key components of a global economy. Extensive opportunities are available for students to meet business professionals, engage in projects, learn from case studies and gain practical experience.
Students are required to complete 600 hours of internship or work integrated
learning and a thesis or feasibility study.

Major in Corporate Management
The Corporate Management major prepares graduates for careers in management and business administration within a challenging corporate business environment. The multidisciplinary curriculum takes a generalist approach in providing students with the knowledge and skills to perform various management functions, including strategic planning, operations, human resources, marketing, finance, and general administration.

Major in Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management major prepares graduates for careers in human resources. The multidisciplinary curriculum provides students with the knowledge and skills to handle the many diverse human capital requirements of organizations, including recruitment and selection, staffing, training and career development, organizational development and personnel management.

Major in International Business
The International Business major prepares graduates for careers in management and business administration within a complex and dynamic global business environment such as with multinational companies or organizations with international business operations. The multidisciplinary curriculum takes a global approach in providing students with the knowledge and skills to navigate an increasingly interconnected world, including, international trade and finance, economics, management, operations and marketing. Students taking this major are encouraged to pursue a foreign language and must have some international exposure outside the classroom.

Major in Marketing Management
The Marketing Management major prepares graduates for careers in marketing, market research, advertising and public relations, product and brand management, account management and sales. The multidisciplinary curriculum provides students with the knowledge and skills required in the field, as well as the flexible mindset necessary to stay competitive in a constantly changing business environment.

At the end of four years, the students are able to:

    1. Apply business concepts and techniques appropriately in the performance of various management functions within the chosen field and in diverse global and local business situations
    2. Think critically, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to generate insight, solve problems and make better decisions through the use quantitative and qualitative methods
    3. Develop, manage and implement strategic, operational, and organizational plans to achieve results, and address challenges that arise with innovative solutions
    4. Exercise leadership and entrepreneurial behavior to foster innovation, transform organizations, pursue promising opportunities and redefine businesses
    5. Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders through oral and written forms using appropriate technologies

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Entrepreneurship Program helps aspiring entrepreneurs acquire the skills, values and behaviors that are vital for the success of any business through a combination of classroom training and experiential learning. It is an interdisciplinary and problem-focused program comprising core business and management education courses, entrepreneurship core courses, specialization courses and electives that fosters innovation and encourages committed action.
The program trains graduates to set up and manage their own business or work as intrapreneurs in various business functions within a corporate environment through the provision of a balanced set of courses in several functional areas of management, leadership and entrepreneurship. Each specialization consists of courses designed to further develop the knowledge and skills needed by graduates to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in their fields of interest. Students are given extensive opportunities to apply entrepreneurial skills rooted in a strong foundation of business knowledge. Students learn to recognize opportunities, generate ideas and innovate, develop viable business plans, and design and develop products.
Students are required to complete a business plan which they will then implement.

Specialization in Tourism Management
The Tourism Management specialization trains graduates for careers in tourism and hospitality. The multidisciplinary curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue businesses in the tourism industry, as well as execute management functions and operational tasks in tourism planning and product development, events planning, travel and tour operations and accommodation with a strong service orientation. Students taking this specialization must have some domestic and international exposure outside the classroom.

Specialization in Culinary Arts
The Culinary Arts specialization trains graduates for careers in culinary arts. The multidisciplinary curriculum equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue businesses in the culinary arts industry, as well as execute management functions and operational tasks in food production, food and beverage service and operations, and events planning that comply with industry standards. Students taking this specialization are required to host a food event.

At the end of four years, the students are able to:

    1. Apply business concepts and techniques appropriately in the performance of various management functions within the chosen field and in diverse global and local business situations
    2. Think critically, analyzing the environment, determining opportunities, developing business models, and assessing feasibility to solve problems through the use of quantitative and qualitative methods
    3. Set up, manage, operate, and grow businesses with a strong service orientation, mobilizing the necessary human, financial, logistical and technical resources, to create economic and social value
    4. Plan, develop and implement products that address consumer needs and comply with industry standards
    5. Exercise leadership and entrepreneurial behavior to foster innovation, transform organizations, pursue promising opportunities and redefine businesses
    6. Build teams, work collaboratively and communicate effectively with partners, customers, and investors through oral and written forms using appropriate technologies
    7. Act in accordance with the ethical requirements of business activities by demonstrating good corporate citizenship and social responsibility

ACCOUNTANCY

Bachelor of Science in ACCOUNTANCY
The Accountancy Program provides students with general accounting education that prepares them for careers in accounting and related fields, including corporate accounting, public accounting, government accounting, accounting information systems and auditing. It is an interdisciplinary program comprising core business and management education courses, as well as courses in accounting, auditing, business law, taxation, finance and economics.

The program trains graduates to pass the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulatory Commission. Graduates are equipped with the skills, knowledge and values that enable them to become competent and successful professionals who provide objective and ethical services to assist stakeholders in problem solving and effective decision making. Extensive opportunities are likewise available for students to learn from case studies and gain practical experience. Graduates are also encouraged to pursue lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
Students are required to complete 400 hours of internship or mentored practical experience and engage in accounting research.

At the end of four years, the students are able to:

    1. Apply business concepts and techniques appropriately in the performance of various management functions within the chosen field and in diverse global and local business situations
    2. Think critically, using knowledge and technical proficiency of accounting concepts, theories, and methodologies to identify and solve problems, and enable better decision-making
    3. Research, monitor, analyze and implement evolving accounting standards and practices to develop policies, respond to business issues and address challenges
    4. Exercise leadership to transform organizations, pursue promising opportunities and redefine businesses
    5. Work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders financial information, evidence, evaluation and results through oral and written forms using appropriate technologies
